Our summer reading programs for children pre-school through high school have started. This year everyone will keep track of time spent reading. For kids birth through 6th grade, stop by to pick up your blue 5 HOUR READING LOG at the library. Beginning June 7 readers may bring their reading logs back to the library, register the first level of reading, get more reading challenges and claim small prizes. In addition to the reading challenge there will be special programs and events. Live owls, puppets, and a movie with treats in June, magicians, a book author, storyteller, and talent show in July. All reading goals must be completed and prizes claimed in the library by 4 p.m., Friday, July 30, when the summer reading program ends.
Some Special Events listed below are free and open to the public.

Which Library Card is Best For You?: |
May 2 - May 8
The Sycamore Public Library has made changes to the Circulation Policy regarding library cards so that you are in charge of who sees what, and we can make sure that we consistently offer you the level of privacy and confidentiality you desire.
We now offer three types of library cards; a family card, an adult personal card, and a child personal card. The family card allows all agreeing household members one library card number that is shared between family members. This means that you can pick up materials for any member listed on that family card. The adult and child personal card are for one individual only. The person listed on that card is the only person who can borrow materials on that card, and the only person who can pick up materials requested on that card.
For complete details about the three types of library cards follow the link. To read the newly revised Circulation Policy follow this link.
If you already have library cards and you want to merge into the new family card, we ask that you bring all existing library cards and family members to the library to make the change. Your cards need to be clear of fines and borrowed items. It takes a bit of time to make all of the necessary changes so we appreciate your patience while we get used to these new procedures.
Beginning June 1st, all existing cards that have not been changed, will be considered personal cards.
